FAQs
What are dentures made of?
With our advanced technology, we prepare dentures that have an acrylic base with the same color shade as your natural gum and teeth. The base is metal covered in plastic and is prepared in such a way that it can easily clasp on your existing natural teeth.
How long do dentures last?
Due to daily and continuous wear, dentures may need to be re-made or partially reconstructed. Re-basing dentures would help the existing denture teeth intact. Though dentures may last from five to eight months, dentures made of plastic may need to be replaced sooner. This may depend on your age because of the change in facial alignment with age.
Is getting dentures painful?
With new dentures fitted, you might feel minor pain or irritation, but it would disappear over time. If you had natural teeth extracted before putting new denture, you might feel uncomfortable for several weeks.
How should dentures fit?
Even if dentures are fixed and fit correctly, it takes around five to eight hours to adjust them into your mouth. The gums might also take time to settle with the appliance. This time period depends from person to person.
What changes would I feel after having dentures?
For few days, you may feel awkward even if dentures are correctly fitted. Though some patients start speaking normally within few hours of adjustment, some may feel discomfort while eating for a couple of weeks. To avoid pain or discomfort, switch to soft food that are easily chewable just after the dentures are fitted. You may also feel a change in your facial appearance or face difficulty in speaking. Also, you may notice a slight increase in salivary flow.
How to take care of dentures?
You should take daily care of your dentures. You should brush them softly with soap and water for removing food or any plaque bacteria. After rinsing them, soak dentures in a water-based solution overnight. Using abrasive toothpaste may stain denture or lead to wearing down of the gloss coating. Avoid whitening them with bleach.
Can I sleep with my dentures on?
Though you can wear dentures while sleeping, it is recommended that you should remove them for at least eight hours during the day or night. This helps the gum tissues and jawbones to relax. Thus, it promotes normal stimulation and cleansing, thereby improving overall oral health.
